Currently, statewide officers take office the first Friday of May, but the amendment would change the date that officers take office to July 1. This would allow for a few months for current officers to mentor new officers. It also would allow new officers to take office at the start of a fiscal year, which would be beneficial for the Treasurer's position.
Voting will start on Friday, January 20 and end on February 2. The amendment vote will be complete before the spring statewide officers elections begin, so candidates will know the parameters of their term when they choose to run.
Voting credentials will be emailed to all voting members.
