The Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee approved H.B. 5300, An Act Requiring Legislative Approval for the Merger or Closing of Institutions Within the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities and Prohibiting the Consolidation of the Regional Community-Technical Colleges.

Now that the legislation was approved out of the committee, it will take a lot of effort to get this legislation called to the floor of the House and Senate. We will be asking members to volunteer beginning on the weekend of April 9 to help gather support in legislative leadership districts around our colleges, specifically in New Haven, Hartford, Norwalk, and Manchester
