Do you know a student interested in working for/with unions or organizations promoting social justice after graduation? The 4Cs Retirees Chapter has created a new scholarship you'll want to share!
The Tyszka Scholarship was created to honor Bill and Marilyn Tyszka, who have spent decades building union strength (for example, Bill was a founding member and leader of the 4Cs Part-Timers unit) and working toward a more equitable society. Their belief in the power of ordinary people to develop just and humane organizations, and an America true to its most noble ideals, energized colleagues and friends throughout their working lives and in their "retirement". After "retiring", they were instrumental in creating the 4Cs Retirees Chapter, serving as elected leaders for many years (Marilyn still is) - while also being regulars at the State Capitol, lobbying for causes important to union members. This scholarship will assist students who wish to work on the causes they cared so deeply about.
For more information and an application, click here. The scholarship is for $1000.
Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship may send a check, made out to the "CSEA Chapter 418 - Tyszka Fund", to Tyszka Fund, c/o Bill Searle, 34 Oakwood Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
