The 4Cs is active in issues that affect our students, such as student debt. We all pay a price if higher education in unaffordable and inaccessible.
The 4Cs and our partners in the Connecticut Coalition, Higher Education, Not Debt CT helped pass significant pro-student legislation in 2015.
- Established a Student Loan Bill of Rights and an Office of the Ombudsman in the Banking Department to assist students with their issues, track complaints, and educate borrowers about their rights.
- Lowered interest rates for supplemental student loans offered by Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA).
- Expanded access to open source textbooks, possibly saving students thousands of dollars by using materials available online at lower cost.
