Dues v. Fees

Did you know that unless you sign and return a membership form, you are considered a “fee payer” instead of a “member?” What this means is that you are paying a fee for representation instead of dues as a member. Membership costs the same as fees, but membership includes many benefits.

  • Only members can vote in union elections for officers.
  • Only members can vote on contract agreements.
  • Only members receive information from the union mailed to their homes.
  • Only members have the right to attend union meetings.

In short, unless you are a member, you are silencing your voice in an organization that has direct impact on your work life. By participating fully in the affairs of the union, you will help improve the rights and benefits for ALL union members.
