We are an organization of over 4,000 higher education employees in Connecticut who, by joining together, are achieving what we cannot accomplish alone. We provide valuable services to our communities, helping to educate and support a higher education population of over 56,000 students at Connecticut’s community colleges and the University of Hartford. By standing together, we have a stronger voice in our working conditions, which are our students learning conditions.
Our work touches the lives of every single Connecticut resident. We educate your children, we provide service in your communities, and we positively impact the economy by providing educated workers that Connecticut businesses need to thrive.
When you are hired and placed in the 4Cs Bargaining Unit, you may think you are automatically a member. Unless you have signed a union card with the 4Cs, you are not a member.
ONLY UNION MEMBERS may vote to ratify a union contract, vote to elect union officers or representatives, or run for union office themselves. Union members receive regular publications and updates. Union members are invited to special conferences and events. Union members have access to member-only benefits through the Union Plus program and SEIU Member Benefits.
Joining the union costs only one percent (1%) of your paycheck; it’s a small investment for a voice in the workplace. By participating fully in the affairs of the union, you will help improve the rights and benefits for ALL union members.
