SEIU Scholarships 2010

Unions help working families fulfill their dreams in many different ways. At SEIU, this includes yearly college scholarship opportunities.Through five different scholarship programs, SEIU awards 52 scholarships that enable SEIU members and their children to pursue their educational goals at accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Applications must be postmarked or filed online by midnight March 1, 2010.
SEIU members of three or more years and their children are eligible to apply. Graduate students are not eligible. Scholarship awards are limited to one per household.
Description of Scholarships:
SEIU Lottery Scholarships (Apply online at aim.applyists.net/seiu)
A total of 48 lottery scholarships are awarded annually. Fifteen $1,000 scholarships renewable for up to four years as well as 33 $1,500 scholarships for one year of study.
SEIU Moe Foner Scholarship (Apply online at aim.applyists.net/mf)
One $5,000 nonrenewable scholarship is available to a student who is pursuing a degree or training in the visual or performing arts, and who believes the arts are a vehicle to advance social change.
SEIU Jesse Jackson Scholarship (Apply online at aim.applyists.net/jj)
One $5,000 scholarship renewable for up to four years is given to a student whose work and the aspirations for economic and social justice reflect the values and accomplishments of the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
SEIU Nora Piore Scholarship (Apply online at aim.applyists.net/np)
This $4,000 scholarship is renewable for up to two years and is for SEIU health care members and their children who wish to pursue an occupation in health care or health care policy.
John Geagan Scholarship (Apply online at aim.applyists.net/jg)
One $5,000 nonrenewable scholarship for SEIU members, their children and local staff who want to pursue a college degree in labor studies. The John Geagan scholarship was created primarily to serve those applicants who are not served by traditional education institutions -- typically adults who have been in the workforce and have decided to go, or return to college.
